No tubes--but Megan can nibble her toes!

We went to the ear doctor today to have him check Megan out. Things went well--he doesn't want to go the tube route at this point because she seems to be healing well and there's no fluid in her ears. So far, so good. It was a good visit, though--I really like this doctor.

On another note, Megan can stick her foot in her mouth. What skills! If this softball thing doesn't work out, there's always gymnastics!

25 Weeks...And My Desert Island CD List (So Far)!

Megan turned 25 weeks old yesterday!

No ear infection this week *knock wood*, but we are going to a ear-nose-throat doctor on Monday anyway to check Megan out, since she’s had three ear infections since just after Thanksgiving.

I’ve been spending a lot of time in the car commuting, and I’ve been compiling my “desert island CD list”—the list of CDs I’d bring with me if I knew I was going to be stranded on a desert island—and greatest hits CDs aren’t allowed. Here are my top 20 (today, anyway!):

Purple Rain, Prince and the Revolution
Parade, Prince and the Revolution
Rumours, Fleetwood Mac
Say You Will, Fleetwood Mac
The Joshua Tree, U2
Notorious, Duran Duran
Wildflowers, Tom Petty
Zenyatta Mondatta, The Police
Barry Manilow Live, Barry Manilow
Blue, Joni Mitchell
Human Racing, Nik Kershaw
Frontiers, Journey
Indigo Girls, Indigo Girls
Thriller, Michael Jackson
Tapestry, Carole King
Aja, Steely Dan
Moondance, Van Morrison
Boys in the Trees, Carly Simon
Amadeus, Soundtrack
Saturday Night Fever, Soundtrack

Anyone want to add their favorites?

24 Weeks Old!

Megan turned 24 weeks old today. Her big accomp-
lishment this week was holding her own bottle at daycare!
Megan has a special relation-
ship with her daddy. Tonight I was feeding her, and P.C. was talking, and Megan kept turning her head to look at him while he spoke--and she was very smiley. Very sweet!

Rolling over and noticing Pauley (but not at the same time)

Megan rolled over today! She was on her tummy and I snapped this shot, then I turned away and turned back just in time to watch her flip over onto her back! She didn't know what she did, and she hasn't done it again since, but who cares? It's exciting anyway.

Megan also noticed Pauley--I mean, REALLY noticed her--for the first time yesterday. Today, Pauley licked Megan's face (don't worry, Mom, I stopped that AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED), and Megan cackled like crazy. When Pauley catches her eye, Megan will follow her around the room. I hope it is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

And here's another picture of Megan that I had to post because she just looks so darn adorable.

Sleepytime

I took this picture during the winter holidays. Megan had been fighting sleep all day, and she finally fell asleep in the swing sometime in the afternoon. I snapped this shot with the camera phone.

23 Weeks Old!

Megan turned 23 weeks old today!

Well, what started out as a cold became a sore throat and ANOTHER ear infection. Ick. I had to miss more work, including a work event this evening. It's so wierd--I feel a real responsibility to my job, but I know in my gut that I need to be with Megan tonight. And that, somehow, just has to be okay.
On another note, it really amazes me how much Megan changes each week. My sister bought an Exersaucer at a yard sale and we've put the baby in it each weekend. We put her in it tonight and she is able to manipulate the toys and her feet touch the bottom of the saucer--a big change from last week, which was a big change from the week before. It's so much fun to watch her grow.

Aah...to be a dog!

Well, Megan has another cold. Yuck. Here's hoping it comes and goes quickly! At least I'm getting better-tuned in to her and how she operates when she's under the weather so I can see how things are progressing. Of course, once I figure it out, she changes the rules! That's motherhood, huh?

I snapped this picture of Pauley last night. It makes me yearn to be my dog--loved, spoiled, sleeping all day, no responsibilities. If dogs had longer life spans, I'd get in line and sign up. :-)

Tummy time for everyone!

Look! Megan is showing Daddy how to hold his head up!

Megan doesn't scream over tummy time like she used to...and she's on her way to rolling over one of these days...

And Pauley is still wondering when Megan will go home so she can get some rest and her parents' undivided attention. (Or, from this picture, at least some Skippy peanut butter...) But Pauley is also demonstrating that she can do tummy time, too.

Who is this guy?

Do you know who this guy is? (photo credit: http://www.pbs.org) If you answered Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Records and legendary producer of artists like Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, Dire Straits, and considered the person who discovered rapper Eminem, you're right!

What does this have to do with anything? Well, I saw him walking his dog a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles. And it's why my sister made the following request in the comments section of a previous post:

Now I want to see a post about your superpower of recognizing famous people in public, esp. people whom most of us couldn't pick out of a lineup.

Since I moved to L.A., I've seen lots of celebrities, and I usually realize who they are after I notice them, know I've seen them somewhere, and think I probably went to college with them or know them from Baltimore. At a school event, for example, I marched up to Alfre Woodard and introduced myself to her because I just KNEW I knew her from somewhere in my past. How embarrassing. I've finally accepted the fact that, since I live in L.A., if I think I know someone, it's probably from the "magic box" in my living room and not from my high school that is 3,000 miles away from Los Angeles.

But I often identify random people who you may have heard of but you might not know what they look like. For example, at Starbucks I saw Clive Davis, founder of Arista Records. I was in total awe. This guy discovered Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, and Whitney Houston, among others. But how many people outside of the music industry would recognize him?

But I'm not perfect. The first time I saw Denzel Washington, for example, I thought to myself, "Wow, that guy is so good looking. He looks like...Denzel Washington...duh."

But I can't beat the best celebrity sighting of all, which belongs to my sister: Tommy Lee in IKEA.

I never ask to have my picture taken with a celebrity, but here's one of the few times I did: Here's a picture of me with actor Jake Gyllenhaal. taken while he was filming the movie Jarhead.

Take that, Reese Witherspoon! :-)

Five Months Old!

Megan turned five months old today. And for the first time, it was hard to take her picture--she's really become quite squirmy--and she wanted to eat the paper! :-)
She is definitely teething...
And her grandmother bought her a holiday outfit with adorable reindeer feet!

Here's a close up of my baby doll.
