Bubbles!

We go to Gymboree on Saturday afternoons. One activity that we do each week is play with bubbles. Megan loves to grab the bubbles and/or pop them when they hit the floor. Gymboree brand bubbles are wonderful; they don't pop easily. So I bought some, along with a bubble blower that blows a ton of bubbles with each breath. Here's Megan in a sea of bubbles.
Today in Gymboree, Megan pulled herself up to standing from the sitting position! We'll see how long it will be before she remembers that she can do it... :-)

Oh, and I bought a new carpet for the play area (see above). It's very colorful and it's big enough for Megan to hang out on.

And you're probably wondering how Pauley is doing. As you can see, climbing the mountain of comforter on the futon made her very tired!

Time flies...

I realized last night that Megan is 38 weeks old. So she's now officially been in the world longer than she was in utero (she was born at 36 weeks and 6 days). That's pretty wild!

Full Day

We decided to keep Megan home again today. Her temperature was normal, but we felt that an extra day at home would be a good idea, so she'd have the weekend before she went back to daycare. We had a great day. We took some walks, played on the floor and on the bed. Megan also took a couple of nice naps. We also hit a couple of milestones today:

Megan stood up by herself while holding on to one of her pieces of play equipment. (I'm holding on to her here, but you get the idea.) Now, she's not super-great at it yet, but it's early in the game. I have a suspicion that she will skip the crawling stage because she hates being on her tummy so much, but you never know. She loves pulling herself up while holding on to my fingers.

Pauley got tired just watching Megan pulling herself up all day! (Oh, yeah, and after we took a nice walk.)

Megan also moved into her first 12-month outfit--a pair of pajamas. She's not ready to wear all 12-month clothes, but the footie pajamas were getting a little short on her.

In other news, here's Megan chatting with Poppy on the phone. She can't seem to figure out how to get Poppy out of the phone!

The teething continues. No teeth yet, though!

As you can tell, it was a very happy day!

Amazing Daddy!

So ... remember that fever Megan had earlier in the week? Well, it came back. And apparently Megan caught Hand-Foot-and-Mouth Disease at daycare. Click on the link and you'll see that it isn't as icky as it sounds; it's a virus that will go away, and she likely had it earlier in the week. (But it does sound like mad cow disease, doesn't it?) Most of the kids at daycare got it. Ick. Megan is doing well today, and her temperature is back to normal. Whether or not she goes to daycare tomorrow will depend on how she is in the morning.

On a related topic, P.C. totally stepped up to the plate (nice baseball reference, eh?) yesterday. I had a board meeting at work and the team didn't have practice yesterday, so he stayed home with her from about 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. That's huge. So, in three days he spent a day and an evening with her all by himself. And I must say, he did an amazing job. He took her to the doctor to get checked out, gave her bottles, played with her, and even cleaned a very, very disgusting diaper. I was extremely impressed. Well done!

And here's a picture from today, on one of our many walks. (She wasn't a very good napper today, so she spent a lot of time getting wheeled around to try and get her to sleep.) I think she's pretty cute, even when she doesn't want to nap.

First trip away...

Last night, I went to San Francisco for work and left Megan home with P.C. for the first time. Things went fine, although I was nervous because Megan woke up with a fever on Sunday and had to stay home yesterday, and I was afraid things would get really complicated. But thanks to some flexibility with schedules, Gram was able to watch Megan for most of the day, P.C. was able to come early, and I went on my 24-hour trip. The trip went well and P.C. did really well with Megan.

Here are some more photos from our trip to Baltimore. The trip was very short--there were so many more people I wanted Megan to meet. Hopefully next time we'll get a longer trip in and we can see people we missed this time!

Megan loved all of the toys that Poppy had for her to play with.

Megan got to meet Mommy's friend Missy (who Mommy has known since seventh grade and loves loves loves!) and her daughter Siena.

She went to a get-together at Missy's parents' house and got to meet Mommy's friend Beth and her son Harrison, too!

Megan and Siena had fun together--hopefully the start of a lifelong friendship!

Megan also got to meet Meredith, who is the daughter of Mommy's college friend Melissa. (Lots of "M" names!)

And here is Megan with her maternal great-grandmother, Bubby. Megan was especially sweet with her great grandmothers--she sat in each of their laps and smiled a lot! What a blessing that Megan was able to meet them.


And Megan DID sleep on the plane ride home. What a great trip!

Baltimore, Sweet Baltimore

Megan and I are in Baltimore--Megan's first trip here since she was born. We're having a great time. I need to post a lot of pictures when I get home because I need to rotate them (lots of vertical shots) and I can't figure out how to do that on the computer I'm using! So...here are just a couple...

First plane ride--not a lot of sleeping, but not too much crying either!

Megan celebrated her eight-month birthday on April 2!

We drove by the houses where Mommy grew up in Reisterstown. This is 14 West Chatsworth Avenue. It looks basically the same...This is 8 Nob Hill Park Drive. It looks totally different from when Mommy lived there!
